Master's Journal
My dissertation journal captures the creative process behind developing a Visual System for the Bucharest National Theatre, a cornerstone of Romanian cultural heritage. Combining unique collage illustrations and an in-depth written account, it explores the challenges and milestones of this two-year endeavor.
The first phase of the project focused on creating a series of unique graphic collages that visually narrate my dissertation journey. Each collage serves as an illustration for a specific chapter, capturing the essence of the creative process through layered visuals.
These collages are designed to tell a story, incorporating symbolic elements that reflect the challenges, research, and creative breakthroughs I experienced. They establish a distinct visual style, aligning with the stature of the Bucharest National Theatre while maintaining a personal touch. Once completed, the collages were further adapted for integration into the final dissertation brochure, seamlessly linking the visual and written components.
The second phase involved creating a comprehensive dissertation journal that documents every step of the creative process in detail. This written component explores the research, conceptual development, and technical execution, highlighting the difficulties and objectives encountered along the way.
Structured as a detailed narrative, the journal reflects on the iterative process of refining the visual system. It includes insights into overcoming creative blocks, managing feedback, and achieving a design that meets the high standards of the Bucharest National Theatre. By combining personal reflections with practical analysis, the journal serves as both a record of my journey and a guide for tackling complex design challenges.
This project demonstrates the synergy between visual storytelling and detailed documentation in achieving a high-caliber design. By merging unique collages with an in-depth dissertation journal, it delivers a cohesive narrative of creativity, perseverance, and respect for the cultural legacy of the Bucharest National Theatre.
